Products are often tricky to build, and even trickier to get right. In a span of a year, we built, iterated and improved the product that car owners like you on our platform use. But in the end, how do we know if we have built the right product for you?

By asking – and listening closely. 

We received feedback from a variety of car owners, from individuals to private fleets, rental agencies to auto dealerships. We discovered that there was an opportunity to design a system that offered flexibility and customization for each owner’s unique set of wants and needs. At the end of the day, we wanted to help you run smarter, more productive businesses. 

Here is an overview of those new changes:

  • Updated the language we use to be more intuitive and approachable
  • Re-invented the look and feel of your owner platform 
  • Optimized the way you list cars and manage your rentals 
  • Created a brand new feature to manage your financials 

Language That Makes Sense To You

There are two sides to every rental – driver and owner. We realized that some of the language we used in the past may have seemed confusing or hard to remember, so we updated key terminology throughout our platform to make more sense from your perspective as an owner. 

Some major changes include:

  • Rental status ‘Applied’ now means ‘Request’
  • Rental status ‘Pending Insurance’ now means ‘Accepted’
  • Rental status ‘Pending Pickup’ now shows as ‘Ready for Check-in’
  • The process to ‘Confirm Pickup’ is now called ‘Check-in’
  • The process to ‘Confirm Dropoff’ is now called ‘Check-out’

In addition, we created walk-through tutorials while adding tooltips and descriptions throughout the entire experience to guide you every step of the way. We know that it might take a little adjusting, so we made sure that access to real-time help is never more than one click away.

 

Faster Loading Times And A Responsive User Interface

As of 2019, 80% of internet usage is on mobile devices and 90% of customers expect consistent interaction across channels, from desktop and tablet to mobile. We understood that we needed to create a seamless experience for the plethora of devices, screen sizes and operating systems that our owners used to manage their rental business. Not only did we create a responsive interface, we also made sure to design a product that was modern, familiar and intuitive, so you can quickly pick up on one device where you left off on another.

 

Improved Rental Experience

We understand that you maintain a busy life, and oftentimes, running your HyreCar rental business may not be your full-time job. Our team wanted to insert helpful tips and progress indicators to provide clarity during each step of the rental and make sure you never have to guess what happens next. It’s now simpler than ever to view and filter by rental statuses so you can make better, quicker decisions and move on.

Clear Reporting and Financials 

Your business success is often determined by how well you know your numbers. That’s why you need to be armed with the financial foundation to run your business efficiently. Besides improving our Transactions page to be more clear, we also introduced a new feature called “Listings Revenue” in your Financials. Now you can now see your revenue you’ve earned for each individual listing, giving you more actionable insights for your business.
